Mini 7 Racing Club confirms new S-Class Regulations for 2027

IN ANOTHER BOLD motorsport initiative, the Mini 7 Racing Club will be implementing a refreshed set of regulations for 2027 designed to enhance its introductory ‘budget-conscious’ S-Class formula, making it easier and cheaper for new racers to get a foot on the ‘motor racing ladder’.

Following the approved vote by its membership at the end-of-2024-season AGM/ATD, a technical sub-committee has carefully evolved the proposed regulations to further underline the ‘level playing field’ ethos that the ‘Scholarship’ category was intended to represent when it was first introduced in 2006.

The subtle tweaks centre around several key components all of which will become mandatory, including a single-option cylinder head, minimal options on crankshafts with a strict minimum weight, one-option standard pistons, single-option flywheel and backplate assemblies, again with strict minimum weights, and single options for both front and rear shock absorbers.

These regulations will be fixed under a 3-year stability ruling, meaning that both current and many new competitors already interested in joining the series can plan and budget their racing campaigns with more certainty, and ultimately ensure a stronger take-up on S-Class debutants as well as logical ‘stepping stone’ progression by established racers to the more senior Mini Se7en ‘Heritage’ formula.

Along with the top-tune 1293cc Mini Miglias, full-tune 998cc Se7ens and up-to-1400cc ‘free formula’ Libres, the limited-tuning 1275cc S-Class continues to complement the ultimate in classic Mini racing opportunities all under one umbrella, and the 2026 S-Class championship is shaping up to be one of the closest and most exciting in its 20-year history, with multi winners and podium challengers among a strong field.

The latest developments will ensure that S-Class and the Mini 7 Racing Club as a whole remains the leading choice for future tin-top stars, as it has done so for six decades.
