| In a change to the 2010 calendar the Dunlop Mini Se7en and Dunlop Mini Miglia Challenge visit to the high speed Hampshire circuit at Thruxton on 28 August will now be a double header, replacing the round scheduled for Oulton Park at the end of May.
The Mini 7 Racing Club (M7RC), which this year celebrates 40 years of the Mini Miglia Challenge, had originally been scheduled to race the two Mini championships at Oulton Park in Cheshire on Saturday 29th May for Round 4 of the 2010 season. However a change in the schedule meant that the teams would have to qualify on Saturday and then race on Bank Holiday Monday. While in previous years the club have accepted this arrangement, given it was a change from the previous plan, the M7RC Committee asked the BARC for an alternative. After considering a number of different options, the Committee voted for a move to extend the Thruxton event to a double header for both Challenges. The one limitation of this new arrangement would be the requirement for a combined qualifying session for a maximum of 45 cars.
“The M7RC committee became aware of a problem for the Oulton Park meeting and it’s highly regrettable to be dropping this fantastic circuit from our schedule,” said M7RC Commercial Manager Colin Peacock. “However we are happy to have been able to found an alternative with BARC. Thruxton is very popular with the drivers and produces fantastic racing, which will mean we’ll be able to put on a great show to entertain what should be a huge crowd at this CSMA supported race event.” |
