Mini 7 Racing Club Launches Invitation Class for 2012


Owners of classic shaped racing Minis are being invited to join the grid of one of Europe’s most successful single make race series, the Dunlop Mini Miglia Challenge.


The Mini 7 Racing Club is running an Invitation Class on the Mini Miglia grid at each of the 12 races in 2012 for all Classic Minis powered by an ‘A’ Series engine and using Dunlop tyres.


Accepted entries will be required to pay a one race membership fee of £75 and the entry fee for the meeting they wish to enter.  If the driver / team wishes to race in a second race they can pay a further £120 to join the M7RC as full racing members.


The Invitation Class cars and drivers will not be eligible to score championship points but a trophy will be awarded to the class winner if two or more entries are received.

Further information –

1.       Eligibility

 Cars:

• Must be powered by a Rover A Series engine

• The shape of the car must look like a Classic Mini (BMC / Rover)

• Must be run on Dunlop race tyres

• Must comply with MSA safety regulations


Drivers:

• Cannot have been a series champion in the last 5 years

• Must have the minimum of a MSA National B licence.


2.    Application Process

To apply to enter a car in the Invitation Class a driver or team must contact Mike Jackson, membership secretary, using the application form below.

•         Invitation Class entries will be considered on its own merit against the broad criteria above, using rolling roads and other additional data where necessary, to reach a conclusion on whether to extend the invitation offer or not.

•         Once the entry is accepted / approved by Mike, the invited car/driver will be informed and will need to agree to the following:

• Pay, via a BACS transfer, a one off membership of £75 valid for one race only, ie; if the car / driver wishes to do two races, they will need to pay a further £120 and become full members of the Mini 7 Racing Club.

• Purchase and apply Mini Miglia Challenge door squares and headers, using red letters and numbers starting at 100 to help spectators and race organisers distinguish the invitation class.

• Remove / cover up stickers / decals from the cars from companies that directly compete with existing Mini 7 sponsors, Spax and Dunlop.

• Pay the race entry fee for BARC events directly to BARC, for the Mini Festival and Motors Live TV meeting, the race entry needs to be paid by a BACS transfer to the Mini7 Racing Club.

•  The invitation class and the drivers will not be eligible for championship points and their qualifying and race results will not influence the championship points awarded or standings.

•  The winner of the Invitation Class will be invited onto the podium but a trophy will only be awarded to the winner of the Invitation Class where two or more cars take part in an event.
